Memories
By Leroy
The love to hunt and fish and spend your leisure in the wild with birds and critters free
Relaxes a body from it’s stressful knots and unwinds the sportsman like you and me.
Not just the catch, nor the hunt or track to satisfy some bloodthirsty urge with a kill
But on nature’s path sharing success and mishaps with friends will memories build.
Memories are made each trip a field to woods and dale, rivers, creeks and lakes,
Good times spent hunting game, chasing fish, roaming swamps and dodging snakes.
Be it catching the limit, or burning powder at those errant speedsters we call dove
None compare to those memories built with brothers true who also share this love
While Father Time moves on, stealing our movement and adding to our aches and pains
We’ll answer the call to hunt a little slower and spend less time with our outdoor games.
Then will memories be so sweet, the tales of Evil Bo Weevil or Johnny Firewalker
These and others can be shared round the fire, in a rocking chair or on your walker.
If these words fall upon your ear and cause no stir except for you to give us a snub
It would serve you well to spend some time down at the Hard Luck Hunting Club.
